Prescription Guidance
Prescription Guidance
At MiEyes, we aim to make ordering your contact lenses as straightforward as possible. Below, you’ll find answers to common questions about prescriptions, ordering your lenses and keeping your contact lens prescription up to date.
Do I need to send MiEyes my prescription before ordering?
No. We do not require you to upload or send us a copy of your prescription when placing an order.
You can select the contact lenses you require, enter the relevant prescription details and complete your order directly through our website.
We will supply the product and specifications selected when your order is placed, so please check your order carefully before completing your purchase.
Will MiEyes choose my prescription for me?
No. MiEyes does not determine or change your prescription.
What you order is what we send out.
The brand, power, base curve, diameter and any other prescription parameters available for selection should be checked carefully before you place your order.
If you are unsure which lenses or parameters you normally wear, please refer to your current contact lens prescription or contact your optometrist or eye care professional.
Can MiEyes check my prescription before I order?
Yes. If you already have a contact lens prescription and would like us to check that the details you are entering correspond with it, you are welcome to email a copy to us.
Our team can help you compare the information on your prescription with the product and parameters you intend to order.
This is an ordering check only. We cannot carry out an eye examination, diagnose an eye condition or determine whether a particular contact lens is clinically suitable for you.
Is a glasses prescription the same as a contact lens prescription?
Not necessarily.
A spectacle prescription and a contact lens prescription can contain different information. Contact lenses sit directly on the eye and may require additional parameters such as base curve and diameter, as well as information about the specific lens type or brand.
You should therefore not assume that the values on your glasses prescription can simply be entered when purchasing contact lenses.
If you are uncertain, check with your optometrist or eye care professional before ordering.
What if I accidentally enter the wrong prescription?
Please contact us as soon as possible.
If your order has not yet been processed or dispatched, we may be able to amend it. Once an order has been processed or dispatched, it may not be possible to make changes.
Because MiEyes fulfils orders according to the product and prescription details entered by the customer, it is important to double-check your selections before completing checkout.
Should I reorder the same prescription as my previous order?
Only if that prescription remains current and appropriate for you.
Your eyesight and contact lens requirements can change over time, sometimes without the change being immediately obvious. A previous MiEyes order should therefore not be treated as confirmation that the same prescription remains suitable.
If you have received a newer prescription or your eye care professional has recommended a different lens, you should use the most up-to-date information provided to you.
How often should I have my eyes and contact lenses checked?
You should have regular eye examinations and contact lens check-ups at the intervals recommended by your optometrist or eye care professional.
In the UK, contact lens wearers are commonly advised to have regular aftercare appointments, with the appropriate frequency depending on factors such as your lenses, eye health and individual circumstances.
Always follow the specific recall schedule recommended by your eye care professional.
My vision seems fine. Do I still need regular checks?
Yes. Contact lens appointments are not only about whether you can see clearly.
An eye care professional can also assess how your lenses are fitting, examine the health of your eyes and check for changes that you may not have noticed yourself.
Regular eye examinations and contact lens aftercare remain important even when your vision feels unchanged.
What should I do if my contact lenses suddenly feel uncomfortable?
Remove the lenses and seek appropriate professional advice if you experience unusual or persistent discomfort, redness, pain, irritation, sensitivity to light or changes in your vision.
Do not continue wearing contact lenses that are causing significant discomfort simply because they are your usual prescription.
If you experience severe eye pain, a sudden change or loss of vision, significant redness or another concerning eye symptom, seek urgent medical or eye care advice.
Can MiEyes give me medical or prescription advice?
Our customer service team can help with product information and ordering queries, including helping you read the details shown on an existing prescription.
However, we cannot replace an optometrist, ophthalmologist or other qualified eye care professional. We cannot diagnose eye conditions, perform eye examinations or issue a contact lens prescription.
If your question concerns your eye health, whether a particular lens is suitable for you, or whether your prescription should be changed, you should speak to an appropriately qualified eye care professional.
Can I order contact lenses for someone else?
You should only place an order where you have the correct and current lens details for the person who will be wearing them.
The person wearing the lenses should have been appropriately fitted for contact lenses and should follow the advice and aftercare schedule provided by their eye care professional.
What details should I check before placing my order?
Before completing your order, check:
-
The contact lens brand and product
-
The power/sphere (SPH/PWR)
-
The base curve (BC), where applicable
-
The diameter (DIA), where applicable
-
Cylinder (CYL) and axis (AXIS) for toric lenses
-
Addition (ADD) or other parameters for multifocal lenses
-
That the details for your right and left eyes have not been accidentally reversed
-
The quantity you require
Not every contact lens uses all of these parameters.
I'm not sure what my prescription means. Can you help?
Of course.
If you already have a contact lens prescription but are unsure how to enter it on our website, you can send us a copy and our team can help you identify the relevant ordering information.
Please remember that we can help you interpret an existing prescription for ordering purposes, but we cannot determine what your prescription should be.
Before You Order
Please check your product and prescription selections carefully before completing your purchase.
MiEyes does not require customers to submit a prescription as part of the ordering process. Orders are fulfilled according to the product and prescription specifications selected by the customer.
If you're uncertain about your prescription, the suitability of a particular contact lens or your eye health, please consult your optometrist or eye care professional before ordering.
